Rotorua Rail Cruising is a fully weatherproof, all-weather activity. Each rail car is equipped with clear, drop-down waterproof sides and warm blankets to ensure you stay dry and comfortable in the rain while maintaining completely unobstructed views of the scenic landscape.

Is Rail Cruising suitable for toddlers, infants, and seniors?

Yes, this is an ideal multi-generational family activity. Because the rail cars are fully automated and require no physical effort or pedaling, it is completely safe and relaxing for infants, toddlers, grandparents, and travelers with limited mobility.

Do I need to pedal or steer the rail car?

No steering or physical effort is required. Unlike traditional rail bikes, our four-person RailCruisers are powered by a hybrid petrol-electric system and run fully automated on the tracks, allowing you to focus entirely on the audio commentary and the native forest scenery.

Is the RailCruiser wheelchair accessible?

We pride ourselves on offering accessible tourism in Rotorua. Our platform and rail cars can accommodate standard wheelchairs and mobility aids. All guests must however be able to walk up 3 stairs using a handrail to get into the rail car.
